My week

I was very glad that everything seems to have calmed down in London today and I can ride my bicycle again.   I'm absolutely loving my new found freedom and I've been going all over the place.  The first day I rode it I didn't even like a car going past me!  I'm fine now although I'm steering clear of main roads, bendy buses and car doors opening!   I never took my driving test and haven't had a

The Gin Den at Bistrotheque followed by a reggae party

Last week I went to Bistrotheque to a party to celebrate their newly decorated bar which was designed by House of Hackney and sponsored by Bombay Sapphire gin.  I'm rather partial to a bit of Bombay Sapphire.
House of Hackney are an interiors and lifestyle brand described as "Colefax and Fowler on acid".  Run by partners Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle, they're based in a house in London

88* by Bistrotheque. Where we go to dinner on a speedboat

Our destination - I didn't take this, obviously.
Last Friday evening The Actor and I had dinner at Bistrotheque's latest pop-up restaurant 88.  We're very lucky to be invited to such fun things.  The venue was a soon-to-be-demolished postmodern office building in Canary Wharf.  Built in 1988, the theme was the glamour and excess of that time.  All the music was from 1988 and the food reflected

Time for an economy drive and a few quotes as it's Friday

"My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income"
Errol Flynn(1909-1959)
Me too Errol, I've always been appalling with money.  I absolutely have to cut down on spending because I love the freedom I have in my life now.  God forbid I have to get a "proper" job.  I'm not motivated by money and never have been.  I can never understand how I manage to spend so much.

Birthday boy the gorgeous Mr Waddington
Yesterday my great friend David Waddington co-owner of East End restaurant, bar and cabaret Bistrotheque gave a lunch for forty close friends and family to celebrate his 40th Birthday.  It was also the seventh anniversary of Bistrotheque's opening.
Even after seven years Bistrotheque still has no sign outside just this painted on the wall in entrance

Finding old photographs

This is my passport picture from 2000.  I took this in one of those booths in Liverpool Street where you can pick the one you like best.  I wish you had that option with all photos!  Daisy did hers at the same time.  She looked just like Emma Peel.
Readers of my blog will know that I've been doing a life laundry for the past few weeks.  I've found tons of things I thought I'd lost which is

Bella Freud and Susie Bick - Screening and dinner

Last night I went along to the screening of a short film for Bella Freud and Susie Bick's gorgeous knitwear label.  The film was made at my house so I was really interested to see how it looked.  Director's Willem Jaspert and Steve Langmanis had done a wonderful job.  I love the film!  I will be able to post it here as soon as the music is cleared.  They've used a great song by Susie's husband

Presents from Giles and Mrs Jones is here. Yeeeeahhh!

My gorgeous friends Giles and David popped round and brought me some presents.  It reminded me of a while ago when the pair had been at Elton John's party and brought me the biggest bottle of vodka I'd ever seen.  Excuse the dodgy mobile phone pics.

You need two hands to pour this...  As The Actor found out when he chipped a piece out of my cream granite worktop!  He paid for the repair... I

Jonny Woo at the Andaz Hotel

The fabulous Mr Jonny Woo
On Saturday evening a group of us were invited to our friend Jonny Woo's new monthly supper club and cabaret night at Andaz Hotel (formerly the Great Eastern), Liverpool Street.  Jonny Woo, the queen of London's drag scene and Tartrazine Dream performed.  We were served cocktails, lots of drinks and a three course dinner.  My favourite was a delicious rum cocktail with
